Our Flowers
Our flower season runs from
April to August
April
The flower season begins on our farm in April, with daffodils opening first, quickly followed by tulips, hyacinths and muscari (sometimes called grape hyacinths).
May
The warmer weather in May delights us and ushers in the last of the tulips, who are followed by alliums, bleeding hearts and Dutch Irises. May also brings the dreaded “flower gap”- a time when bulbs have finished blooming and the spring perennials have not yet begun. We are trialing growing ranunculus and anemones in 2024 and hope to fill the gap with flowers!
June
June is full of blooms, with peonies, roses, sweet peas, snapdragons and daisies at their best. Early cosmos begin blooming, joined at the end of the month by the very earliest dahlias.
July
The summer heat brings a huge variety to the garden, with the first sunflowers of the year joining the roses, sweet peas, snapdragons, daisies and cosmos. Lilies, phlox, calla lilies, gladiolas and many more dahlias join the party to make July a month worth celebrating!
August
August ushers in a huge wave of dahlias! Wildly popular, dahlias pair perfectly with sunflowers, gladiolas, lilies, phlox, snapdragons and a few roses that manage to beat the heat!
